Mohammed Rafi - 'Jaan Pehechan Ho'
If Harvey Sid Fischer takes the prize for YouTube video I'm most likely to share with anyone, 'Jaan Pehechan Ho' is a close second. Much like the 12 astrology songs, it's an old piece of music video footage that might have been lost were it not for the diligence of it's admirers, dubbing copies on VHS to show their friends and gradually endowing it with legendary status. I was lucky enough to know Mike who worked at Albuquerque's very best video store at the time, Video Plus, and it was thanks to him and his knack for watching everything under the sun at least once that I first saw this bit. Later on it made an an appearance in Terry Zwigoff's adaptation of 'Ghost World', and now it enjoys a whole new life on the internet. Mohammed Rafi is one of the greatest Bollywood singers, and my rock music addled mind at the time couldn't have found a better introduction. Is there more like this out there? One can only hope...
