Going to an event like this, it's inevitable to end up in a talk with someone about the financial crisis, which I still - no matter how much I try in earnest to learn about it - can't talk about without stumbling over words. Today's march targeted two banks specifically, JPMorganCHASE and Bank of America, both of whom played a large role in the development and sale of subprime loans as a 'tool' for financial development. The following episode of This American Life went a long way in helping me understand what the subprime loan packages were in a very entertaining way. It's worth checking out:
