If you fall off the horse...
Man alive, it's been almost 4 months since my last flippy 'lil skids post! I need to develop vigilance. And shoot more photos. My software is refusing to acknowledge the camera at the moment, so I'll have to make do with a boring old text post, but at this point anything will suffice to get me back in the swing of writing these things.
'So what have I been up to since August?', I'll ask myself, taking a look at the online calendar that I have remarkably kept (somewhat) updated since April. In September I did a short tour with Upstairs Downstairs around the pacific northwest that proved to be one of the most fun weeks I ever spent on the road with a band. I think I actually wrote some posts for that. I'll have to look for those and get them up. After the tour I went on a nice overnight kayaking trip with Katie up in Point Reyes. We drove down to L.A. for her friend Steph's wedding, where I got to see some old friends and did some great day trips around the city. Played a fun overnight gig with Emily Bonn up north off the beautiful highway 1, along with a few good Amnesia shows, a few good Makeout room shows, a bittersweet Viracocha show with Unfortunates at which we bade farewell to bassman Barry Burst, a John Avalos fundraiser, several farmer's markets, a wedding at a beautiful hotel in Oakland and another up in Mendocino, and a girl's birthday party. Saw a few great rock shows that reminded me I ought to go out more often, one from Harderships and the other from Howlin' Rain. Had a few too many of everything at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass and ended up sick with a bad cough for nearly a week, though it was worth it to see Dr. John and Devotchka play back to back. Got a job editing mp3s for a hypnotist. Signed up to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, a great organization that I'm looking forward to visiting again in the near future. Went to a Mexican wedding that was incredibly fun during what I'm going to call the best week of the year (post idea!). My parents came to visit for a week. Saw my friend do a signing at cartoon art museum. Jumped on the bank transfer day bandwagon and moved my savings and checking accounts to a credit union. That's about it... hopefully with this list I can crank out a few entries to keep myself engaged in the great activity of blog writing. This week should be nice and eventful too. On the whole I've felt pretty busy and productive, although I there are plenty of projects I committed to at the beginning of the year that still aren't quite done, or worse, not even begun yet. Onward, then.
