BAVC Career Class

I found out about this class through the BAVC website about a week before it started and saved myself a seat.  I had been looking for ways to improve my chances of finding work in the field of audio production, and this hour long seminar provided some good tips.  One piece of advice we were given was to keep conscious of the social nature of the work and to invest as much time as possible in networking, meeting other people, and getting our name out there.  It's a common thing to hear,  but good to be reminded of at a time when much of my job search has involved staring alone at a computer screen for hours on end.  Another tip was to put together a cohesive portfolio that targets the specific type of work you want to be doing by being selective about the content included.  I'm going to take that to heart and focus on putting together a more audio specific site to present to prospective employers.  At the moment, my portfolio is nothing more than a blogger page with a little banner on it.  I like the idea of having a blog to showcase new work, but think I will be making a switch to wordpress,  since they offer a wide variety of portfolio specific themes and also because they have a widget that posts updates to LinkedIn.  Thanks to Dov for conducting the class and for writing me a very thorough follow up e-mail with a lot of helpful material.
